  • Bladderwrack is a dark-brown seaweed that is harvested from cool ocean waters all around the world. Easily recognized by its air-filled thalli or "bladders" that keep the plant afloat. Bladderwrack naturally contains very high levels of iodine, which is responsible for making thyroid hormones. These hormones control the body's metabolism and many other important functions. The body also needs thyroid hormones for proper bone and brain development during pregnancy and infancy. Bladderwrack also naturally contains calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, minerals, trace metals, and mucopolysaccharides.
